If you want to take your ISQ UTT exam and pass on the first try I highly recommend you attend one of Glenn’s courses. The way the course is structured allows you to gain a higher understanding of what you will see during the exam.

I attended Glen’s class based on a recommendation from a coworker. I was taking his class as a ASNT prep course for my ISQ UTT exam the following day. He was very knowledgeable, intelligent and knew how to communicate with the class regarding the examination process and what type of material defects to anticipate and be prepared for. He has a plethora of sample pieces to practice on and has a tighter tolerance than what was to be expected.

The course structure was as follows:

Day 1 a introduction about him and his experience along with defects signal behavior and characteristics, then get to work practicing.

Day 2 get to work

Day 3 get to work.

I would highly recommend his course. I encountered everything from easily identifiable to very tricky and easy to miss defects with all manner of sample configurations. I felt more confident after taking his course and passed my exam with flying colors.

Glen’s class has been exceptional. The instruction is very specific and practical when it comes to how to successfully pass the test. We’ve sent 5 UTPA technicians and 4 UTT technicians through the program with zero failures to date.

This is hands down the most impactful class I’ve attended. It’s a well-rounded course that equips technicians with everything they need to be successful.

Recently completed Glen’s ISQ UTPA prep course. My colleagues and I had been following the document releases and on going changes to the ISQ program with a lot of scrutiny and concerns about the specifics. It didn’t help matters that we were also paying attention to the pass rates and comparisons to other exams that in the past had given some very reputable names in our industry a lot of problems. So when one of my customers elected to require the ISQ to work in their facilities I told my boss I wasn’t going to waste time with trial and error, I wanted to take it serious because wasted time and damaged reputations don’t help anyone. When I researched providers for this test only Major NDT seemed to have an option. I was thoroughly impressed that Glen had prepared strategies to approach this exam; focused efforts on scan plans, probe selections, groupings, plans of attack. As he teaches and preaches these methods he refrences the ISQ documents and sheds light on what the verbage is saying and how you should respond to it. Its very easy to be thorough in the wrong direction, and Glen clarifies the intent and the approach necessary to take this exam not just to pass a certification but in how to proceed in real world inspections in the way these types of tests expect their certified inspectors to behave. Couple all of that with a long time experienced UT Lvl 3 taking the time to go into the nuiance of echo dynamics of every flaw type and give clarity that bridges the gap between the class room and welds we will see in the wild, and I can confidently say that every ultrasonic technician will leave this training better than they walked in. I attempted and achieved my ASNT ISQ certification yesterday. My biggest revelation during the test was that Glen had made the test -HARDER- in his classroom so that when you take the real thing you’re over competent. Invest in yourself and your technicians, go see Major.

Glenn is one of the best instructors I’ve encountered. Clear lectures, great examples, and he explains things in a way that actually makes sense — even the tough stuff.

Course is well-organized and he gives really helpful feedback.

He’s approachable, answers questions patiently, and genuinely wants you to understand the material.

If you put in the effort, you’ll learn a lot and enjoy the class.

Highly recommend — take his course if you can!

Absolutely recommend, great teacher. I learned things I didn’t know in the first 30 minutes of the lecture I didn’t know as a Technician was amazed I was never taught nor read in any textbook some of the things he included during his lecture. Made me sit back and realize I wish I would have known that. Glenn is a very knowledgeable and fun teacher. Made passing my ISQ a breeze.

I can’t recommend Glenn enough! I flew from Bellingham, Washington to train and Glenn came out swinging! I passed my UTT-ISQ on the first try!

The class is set up just like the test so you get to work out the mistakes before you go and there’s hundreds of plates to scan. I’ll definitely be coming back for more training.
